The Origin of RT240

When we set the goal of creating the DFS Ghost 50, we had one clear target:

A 50mm deep aero wheelset under 1000g — without sacrificing real-world performance.

Achieving this goal was not simply about using lighter rims or fewer materials. Every component had to be redesigned and optimized, including the heart of the wheelset — the hub.

This is where the RT240 hub was born.

The challenge was clear:
How do we reduce weight while maintaining the stiffness, reliability, and smooth performance expected from a race-level wheelset?

Our engineers focused on removing unnecessary weight while preserving the essential structures that define a high-performance hub.

Through optimized flange design, lightweight machining, and a refined internal structure, the RT240 hubset achieves an exceptional weight of only 240g per pair, helping the Ghost 50 break the 1000g barrier while maintaining race-ready durability.

The RT240 is not designed to be the lightest hub at any cost.

It was created with one purpose:

To make ultra-light aero performance possible.

Together with the Ghost EVO rim, lightweight carbon spokes, and advanced construction technology, the RT240 became a key element in creating one of DFS’s most advanced lightweight aero wheelsets.

Frictionless speed meets extreme weight savings. The RT240 Ghost hub is built around ultra-smooth S&S Ceramic bearings to minimize rolling resistance. At just 235g, it is the ultimate foundation for lightweight climbing wheels paired with carbon spokes.

Ultra-Smooth Rotation

Equipped with dual 6802 precision bearings, the RT240 provides exceptionally smooth rotation with reduced friction.

The optimized bearing arrangement improves efficiency, enhances durability, and ensures consistent performance even during long-distance and high-intensity riding.

Lightweight & High-Strength Construction

The RT240 combines a AL6061 aluminum hub shell with an AL7075 aluminum axle, creating an optimized balance between weight reduction and structural strength.

Every part is engineered to remove unnecessary weight while maintaining the reliability required for modern race wheelsets.

Advanced SS Ratchet Engagement System

Featuring DFS’s SS Ratchet engagement system, the RT240 delivers rapid engagement and immediate power response.

Available with 36T or 54T engagement options, the system provides quick acceleration, precise control, and efficient power transfer with every pedal stroke.

Optimized Straight-Pull Design

The RT240 features a 20-hole straight-pull spoke design with optimized flange geometry.

This improves spoke tension balance, increases wheel stiffness, and enhances power transfer efficiency — creating a more responsive riding experience.

The rear hub uses carefully selected 15267 and 6802 precision bearings to handle higher loads and torque demands from powerful riders and high-performance racing.

Combined with optimized P.C.D. geometry, the RT240 achieves excellent spoke angles for increased wheel stiffness and reliable power transmission.
