The DFS PULSE R2 is a high-performance road disc hub designed specifically for premium carbon wheelsets.

Developed in-house by DFS since 2021, the PULSE R2 was created around one simple idea:

True performance comes from balance.

Rather than chasing the lowest possible weight or the fastest engagement alone, the PULSE R2 combines smooth rolling, fast engagement, high stiffness, low weight, and long-term reliability into one complete hub platform.

At approximately 285g per set, it provides an ideal foundation for high-performance road racing and lightweight carbon wheel builds.

The PULSE R2 features the DFS SSF Ratchet System, developed to deliver fast engagement while maintaining smooth operation and reliable long-term performance.

72T — 5° Engagement

The high-precision ratchet system provides rapid power response during acceleration, climbing and sprinting.

Its simplified design also makes maintenance easier while reducing unnecessary complexity.

03 — SUPERIOR STIFFNESS

Built Around a High-Performance Wheel Platform.

The PULSE R2 uses an optimized 2:1 rear wheel lacing platform together with an oversized 74mm flange.

The larger flange diameter improves spoke bracing angles, helping increase both lateral and torsional wheel stiffness.

The main bearing position is also optimized to provide better support under load.

The result is a more stable and direct wheel platform with efficient power transfer.

Whether accelerating out of a corner or sprinting out of the saddle, the PULSE R2 provides the solid response expected from a high-performance racing hub.

04 — TC4 TITANIUM FREEHUB BODY

Lightweight Strength. Long-Term Durability.

The rear freehub body is manufactured from TC4 titanium alloy.

Compared with conventional aluminum freehub bodies, TC4 titanium provides excellent resistance against cassette bite, corrosion and long-term wear.

This makes the PULSE R2 particularly suitable for riders who demand both high performance and long-term reliability.

05 — PRECISION BEARING PRELOAD

Fine-Tuned for Smoothness and Durability.

The PULSE R2 features an adjustable bearing preload system that allows the hub bearings to be precisely set for optimal operation.

Correct preload helps maintain smooth rotation, reduce unnecessary bearing stress and extend bearing service life.

The system is designed to provide a precise and dependable bearing setup without unnecessary complexity.

Precision CNC Construction

The PULSE R2 combines a high-strength 7-series aluminum alloy hub shell with a TC4 titanium alloy freehub body.

Precision CNC machining allows DFS to optimize the shape and structure of each component while maintaining the required strength and stiffness.

The result is a clean, lightweight and highly refined hub platform designed for modern performance wheelsets.

Warranty

The DFS PULSE R2 is covered by a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use.

Bearings and normal wear components are considered consumable parts and are excluded from standard warranty coverage.
